Q&A
Get to know more about this camera-friendly couple...in their own words.
What's the difference between you guys and those other Brits Posh and Becks?
Katie: We're more approachable. We don't need to prove that we've got money. We're as normal as the everyday person on the street. We have more family issues, but we don't make big deals about it. We are what we are, and a reality show is definitely not scripted. It is as natural as, you know—you see us arguing, you see us making up, you see us with the kids. You know, it's absolute normal stuff. Cooking...
Peter: There is one more thing, she [Katie] actually smiles.
Katie, you're known as Jordan and Katie Price. What's with the different personalities?
Katie: I know the show is called Katie + Peter, but a lot of stuff I've done, like my autobiography, is called Being Jordan. And the second is called Jordan: A Whole New World, and I'm now on my third one. But you know, that's how I started out, and in other places like Germany, they know me as Jordan and Katie Price. I don't know, they're just two career paths, completely different but both successful in their own right. Whereas the underwear and swimwear, all that's Katie Price. My hair product is Katie Price. But the more grown-up stuff is more Jordan.
Peter: Basically, I don't know who I'm married to.
You've also gone from blond to brunette and back again. Which do you like better?
Katie: I always think that when I'm pregnant, I'm blond. Seems to go that way, I don't know why.
Peter: Maybe because you dye it.
Katie: Ah, very funny. But I go really dark, mousey blond, I just get really bored looking the same. And I think it's really important that I change my look all the time. I must be a Gemini, because I get so bored.
What's your favorite hair color?
Katie: It depends, because I think when you're darker, you look more classy. When you're blond, it's more fun and bright. That's just the impression I get. When I'm dark, I seem more mysterious, classy. But blond, I'm just more bubbly.
Peter, what do you prefer?
Peter: Brown hair I love. I've got no disrespect to blond hair, but I just think brunette has this sophistication about it. I love it.
You've been compared to Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson. Have you watched the Newlyweds show?
Peter: You know, we never saw The Osbournes even though we know Sharon, and she's a wonderful lady. We never actually saw the show. And when ITV approached us about doing our own show, we thought if we started watching it, we might do things they do, and it wouldn't look real. So, we kinda made a vow that we wouldn't watch anything. But Kate is fascinated by Jessica because she likes her personality.
Katie: I think she's stunning. She might as well be, she's grumpy, moody, she's happy when she wants to be, she doesn't dress up all the time, yeah, and she likes singers. But also, in the daytime, she's like me. Real casual. I'm not now, because I have makeup on, because I'm working, but normally. She just reminds me of me. She'll dress up when she has to, put makeup on and stuff, other than that she's quite natural in her baggy clothes. And that's like me as well.
Who's the neat freak? Who cleans up?
Peter: Who does the cooking? [Points to himself.] I knew when I got in this relationship that it was not going to be like that where one cooks, one cleans, it's fair.
Katie: But he loves cooking. I don't cook. If we have loads of people over, I like to cook, because I can cook. But I'm so busy and have so many things to promote, and I'm pregnant...
Peter: The point is, with the children running around, and I love my children...
Katie: And I've got six horses running around.
Peter: And we've got two British bulldogs.
So, are you the one who will be changing the diapers?
Peter: Look, I'm not saying that I'm a great singer, I'm not saying that I'm a great anything, I'm not even saying that I'm a great cook, but I'm a great dad. I am. That is the truth.
How about a great husband?
Peter: I think I'm a good husband.
Katie: You're a good cook, a good cleaner.
