Solange Knowles: "I Don't Have a Life in Hollywood"
Solange Knowles doesn't want her three-year-old son, Daniel, to go into the family business.
"I'd love for him to be talented in other things," Beyoncé's 22-year-old little sister says. "I hope that he wants to be a...computer engineer."
Since giving birth to Daniel—when she was just 18—we haven't seen or heard much from Solange...
Is Beyoncé Pregnant? Wait for the Ultrasound
Typically, getting personal details out of a celebrity's publicist is like pulling teeth. Apparently, that's not so with Beyoncé's rep, who's even offered to act as the media's own ob-gyn.
As sources have been saying Jay-Z's wifey has "gained a lot of pregnancy weight," a rep for the singer tells the New York Post, "I don't know if she's pregnant. Let me perform an ultrasound and get back to you."
Now, that's the kind of cooperative spirit we appreciate around here.
A-List Secrets: How Many Minions Do Stars Hire?
How many people does an A-list celebrity typically employ?
—J.S.
The care and feeding of celebrities requires two breeds of minion. The household help—cooks, nannies, butlers—usually work directly for the star. The satellite people—lawyers, nutritionists, trainers, publicists, agents—work for themselves and charge an hourly or monthly rate.
But exactly how much assistance a star needs depends on how rich and fabulous—or fertile—he or she is. Brangelina and their We-Are-the-World peanut gallery have different needs than, say, Beyoncé and Jay-Z, who have only two—albeit hefty—egos to feed.
Follow me past the jump, and I'll tell you exactly how many lackeys are required in both kinds of households—plus the minion count for a third, mystery diva.
Beyoncé's Onstage Spousal Support
Hard-knock life? Not anymore. Hard-knock wife? We wouldn't dream of going there.
One thing Jay-Z definitely has these days is a sporting wife, as none other than Beyoncé herself teased a sold-out crowd at Madison Square Garden Friday night, taking to the stage to briefly dance to the duo's duet, "Crazy in Love."
The rapper played a snippet of the song from a DJ booth onstage and then quickly cut off the track.
At that point, the missus emerged from backstage, shook her bootylicious self and just as quickly bounced back off, though not before twirling in front of her chuckling hubby.
Always leave them wanting more.
Beyoncé and Jay-Z's Wedding Ring Mystery
Beyoncé and Jay-Z are officially Mr. and Mrs. There's no doubt about it since the filing of their signed marriage license was made public.
So you’d think they’d start wearing wedding rings by now. But no, they’re still ringless.
My spies spotted the newlyweds at last night’s wrap party for Beyoncé’s upcoming flick, Cadillac Records, at New York’s Angels and Kings. (Others at the p.i.n.k. vodka-sponsored bash included Beyoncé’s costars Jeffrey Wright, Adrien Brody and Mos Def.)
And while I'm told the couple was lovey-dovey and holding hands, there wasn’t a bejeweled finger in sight—which seems to be in keeping with a Jay-Z sighting earlier this week at a Kanye West party in L.A., again not wearing a ring.
What gives you two?
Solange Knowles: What's in a Name?
To paraphrase the famous line about a rose by any other name still being a rose, Beyoncé’s sister—by whatever name—is still Beyoncé's sister!
It seems B's younger sibling (and Jay-Z's new sister-in-law), Solange Knowles, will now go by the oh-so-creative moniker SoL-AngeL on her upcoming sophomore album.
And she says that getting the CD made in the first place was quite an effort.
"I literally had to beg [record producer] Cee-Lo to listen to my music, but once he did, he signed on immediately."
Ah, we stand corrected. For a minute there, we thought maybe nepotism had someting to do with it.
Update
Beyoncé & Jay-Z: Licensed and Wed
The question of did they or didn't they has finally been answered: On April 4, Beyoncé and Jay-Z most certainly did.
While the newlyweds have yet to confirm or deny—or make any comment whatsoever on—their marital status, E! News has confirmed the superstar duo quietly filed their signed wedding license in Scarsdale, N.Y., Friday afternoon.
"Yes, we did receive it back," Scarsdale Town Clerk Donna Conkling said. "We do have public information on our marriage applicants, and that's one of the things we can confirm."
The license, which arrived at Scarsdale Town Hall in the mail, confirms what we reported on the happy day: namely, that Shawn Carter made Beyoncé Knowles his missus.
