Mindy McCready Turns Up for Lockdown
The mean streets of Franklin, Tenn., just got a little safer.
Mindy McCready has made good on her word to local authorities, turning herself in to Williamson County's finest to begin serving a 60-day sentence.
The troubled country songbird was found in violation of her probation on a 2004 drug charge back in June, when she was arrested for falsifying community-service records. She had been ordered to perform the community service as part of her sentence for falsifying a prescription.
On Monday, the 32-year-old announced plans to turn herself in, asserting it was the first step in her long-promised road to recovery.
"I am working very hard to put all of this behind me as quickly as possible so I can get back to what I like to do most: sing, write songs and entertain," she said.
Mindy McCready Heads Back Behind Bars
It's time for Mindy McCready to face the music for the...well, we've lost count of which time this is.
The ever-troubled country star is due to surrender to Tennessee authorities Tuesday to begin serving 60 days behind bars for violating probation, yet again, in her 2004 prescription-drug fraud case, her lawyer announced this morning.
"I am working very hard to put all of this behind me as quickly as possible so I can get back to what I like to do most: sing, write songs and entertain," the country twanger said in a statement.
"I would like to thank my fans for their unwavering support as I continue to work on my recovery and to regain custody of my precious son, Zander."
Nick Hogan Set for Early Release
Springtime for Nick Hogan is coming this fall.
The former reality star and son of Hulk Hogan will be released three months earlier than expected from Pinellas County Jail, thanks to credits for behind-bars working and good behavior, E! News has confirmed.
All told, the 18-year-old Hogan, born Nick Bollea, will serve just five months of the eight-month sentence he received last May. The punishment was handed down after he pleaded no contest to one count of reckless driving involving serious bodily injury for a 2007 high-speed DUI crash that left his passenger, John Graziano, severely injured.
County officials said the early release schedule was not an example of special treatment for the celeb offspring but standard procedure for nonmisbehaving inmates.
DMX Behind Bars in Arizona
The law came calling for DMX after all.
The beleaguered rapper is in police custody in Phoenix after being extradited yesterday from Miami, where he pleaded guilty two weeks ago to attempted marijuana and cocaine possession stemming from his June 27 arrest during a police drug sting.
He was sentenced to time served and fined $483.
Maricopa County Sheriff's officials had 15 business days to come and get him, or else DMX would have been allowed to leave Florida on his own recognizance, according to the Cradle 2 the Grave star's attorney.
But because Arizona—where he's facing 11 counts of animal cruelty and drug possession in connection with two raids on his Phoenix-area home—reclaimed him Wednesday on an outstanding warrant for missing a court date, DMX now must post bail in the amount of $25,000 before he's released.

Mackenzie Phillips Makes Bail
Mackenzie Phillips can start taking it one day at a time on the outside.
Having spent the night in the slammer following a drug bust, the former sitcom star was released from Van Nuys Jail Thursday at 2:30 p.m. after posting $10,000 bail, E! News has confirmed.
The 48-year-old actress-singer was brought to the facility Wednesday and booked on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance after admitting to officers she had a "drug problem"—and was found to be holding small amounts of both cocaine and heroin while trying to get through security at Los Angeles International Airport.
Along with the requisite handful of bail bondsmen, Phillips received a visit in jail from half-sister Bijou Phillips and Bijou's boyfriend, Danny Masterson, yesterday afternoon.
Da Brat Headed for Da Slammer
Da Brat has just been given one helluva spanking.
An Atlanta judge today sentenced the Unrestricted rapper to three years in prison for bashing a woman with a rum bottle at a Halloween party last year.
DeKalb County Superior Court Judge Gail Flake also slapped the 34-year-old rapper, whose real name is Shawntae Harris, with seven years' probation and 200 hours of community service for the Oct. 31 incident, which occurred at mentor Jermaine Dupri's Studio 72 nightclub in Tucker, Ga., a suburb of Atlanta.

Gary Glitter Back on the Streets...Sort Of
UPDATE: Gary Glitter isn't Britain's problem just yet.
The disgraced glam rocker is reportedly refusing to complete the last leg of his journey after being released today from a Vietnam prison and immediately deported following three years in prison on a child-molestation rap.
According to the Guardian, Vietnamese authorities escorted the 63-year-old entertainer, born Paul Francis Gadd, from Thu Duc prison to Ho Chi Minh City airport, gave him a passport and stuck him on the first flight back to his native Great Britain. They should've waited to send him direct, though.
The BBC reports that Glitter did not board the Bangkok-to-London portion of his flight, telling authorities that he was having a heart attack and couldn't go on.
Attorney Le Thanh Kinh has said that his client does not want to return to his home country and it's not difficult to understand why.

Blonsky Dad Finally Bailed
UPDATE: Carl Blonsky is back in New York after his attorney successfully lobbied a Turks and Caicos appellate court to return his travel documents and approve his departure from the island after making bail.
Local police department spokesman Sgt. Calvin Chase told E! News today that if Blonsky doesn't return for his scheduled Aug. 19 hearing, "the $3,000 cash bail is forfeited and the court will issue a warrant for his arrest."
It's possible, however, that Blonsky could be extradited back to the island if necessary, Chase added.

John Lennon's Killer Denied Parole
If Mark David Chapman wants to know what it's like to be free, well, he'll have to just imagine.
For the fifth time since becoming eligible for release, John Lennon's killer was denied parole from New York's Attica Correctional Facility Tuesday.
Parole board members issued a brief one-page decision on the denial after meeting with Chapman, saying that despite his clean disciplinary record since 1994, his release "would not be in the best interest of the community."
Or, more likely, in the best interest of Chapman's safety.
